A Jumble Of Superlative Movie Story Lines

For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. You can get virtually any movie you want with a good movie download site. Here are some examples.

The Leading Man: British backstage show romance in regards to an American film megastar who seduces a playwright’s desolate spouse and his leading-woman mistress. When it might relatively make up its mind whether it’s a joke tirade or a light thriller, it’s still extremely amusing stuff. Bon Jovi is excellent as the brash, amoral Yankee, and Galiena and Newton are fetching as the females snared in his web. Richard’s Things: Widow Ullmann is seduced by her late spouse’s lady friend. Screenplay by Frederic Raphael based on his novel. Cast includes Liv Ullmann, Amanda Redman, Tim Smith, Elizabeth Spriggs, and David Markha. (104 minutes, 1980)

Lil Abner: Performers in grotesque makeup bring Adam Capp’s Dog patch cartoon characters to life, although in spite of the presence of numerous quiet comedy war horses Keaton, Edgar Kennedy, Chester Conklin, and Billy Bevan to name a few there’s nary a giggle in scene. Later lyrical is much more superior. Cast includes Granville Owen, Martha O’Driscoll, Mona Ray, Johnnie Morris, and Buster Keaton. (78 minutes, 1948)

The X-Files: FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully hit the big screen in the first X-Files movie. Investigating the bombing of an office building in Dallas, the two agents are drawn into an even greater mystery. It eventually leads them to an alien plan to colonize the planet, and the U.S. government is somehow involved.

Stakeout on Dope Street: Trio of youths find backlog of heroin, trusting their futures can now be straight forward; excellent premise badly finished. Cast includes Yale Wexler, Jonathan Cloud, Morris Miller, Abby Dalton, and Herschel Bernardi. (83 minutes, 1958)

Major League II: After a miraculous comeback season that landed them in the ALCS last year, the Cleveland Indians have set their sites on the World Series. The off-season has seen many of the teams best players go through changes. After a slow start can these guys get back to their old ways and start winning like they did last year?

Star Trek: Generations: A strange astronomical occurrence has brought two famous captains of the enterprise into the same time and space. Picard and Kirk must work together to destroy an alien who is demolishing civilizations.

Cry the Beloved Country: Easy going back country pastor voyages to Johannesburg looking for his child, when destiny links his road with that of a prosperous, bigoted white landowner. This heart rending tale journals the racial divisiveness at its roots in South Africa, without resorting to preaching. Cast includes Canada Lee, Charles Carson, Sidney Poitier, Geoffrey Eager, Reginald Ngeabo, and Joyce Carey. (111 minutes, 1951)

House of Wax: A group of buddies heading to a college football game take a shortcut, and find themselves stranded, get split apart, trip into a defected town, and enter a home of wax with a “closed” register the window. Plays like an average horror flip, however with modern-day, “fleshed-out” characters. An in-name-only redo of the 1953 film, albeit the wax sculptor is identified Vincent. Cast includes Jaume Serra, Elisha Cuthbert, Brian Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, Robert Richard, and Damon Herriman. R (105 minutes, 2005)
